Snr. Vol. David Shipeolu declared the meeting open.
One of the panelists, Professor J. S Odemuyiwa speaking at the event "Patriotic Nigeria simply means Patriotic Nigerians, we are Nigeria and we need to focus on ourselves to know if we are patriotic in our approach and dealings towards those around us, the youth especially need to start thinking of how they can be the change we all yearn for, the future of Nigeria is in our hands and the way we design Nigeria determines how it will be. Nigeria is our home because no place like home". He ended the session by charging everyone to be patriotic Nigerians.
V. I. O Abimbola Babalola speaking at the event also contributed that to be patriotic is to think of other people's interest, when we are patriotic enough, we will be able to bring positive change to the country. In his speech, he shared some of the features of a patriotic person which includes; Special affection for your own country, sense of personal identification with the nation, special concern of feeling for others and many more.
Mummy Lawal Olanike who showed excitement to join the conference, aired her thought of what it means to be a patriotic Nigerian "there's no patriotism in a country without truthful dedication by the citizens. We cannot talk about patriotic Nigeria without talking about some government policies, workers inadequacy, kidnapping, corruption, terrorism etc these are results of lack of patriotism among us.
We need to have sympathetic feelings for the people and the country, leaders and followers need to be patriotic and that is the only way we can have a united nation.
Hon. Olumide Jones, who is the host of the event also appreciated the presence of everyone.
SME AF President, Shipeolu David also share his thoughts on the subject matter 'patriotic Nigeria' speaking "youths spend a lot of time complaining rather than acting, i hereby challenge all youths to first be patriotic as an individual before they complain about leadership. The use of social media has deceived us to believing youths are ready to act but they only hide behind keypads without ready to effect change in their immediate communities. If we do not ACT how do we challenge others to ACT. He ended his speech by charging everyone to Rise up for Nigeria so that we can achieve a united nation.
With a grateful heart and gladness the PRO, Volunteer Timothy Akosile thank the attendees and charge all to go to their immediate communities and be a patriotic citizen.
