FROM THE OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF ACOMORAN

OUR RESPONCE ON THE ALLEGATION OF IMPOSITION OF ALHAJI SHAMSUDEEN APELOGUN AS THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF ACOMORAN.

Our attention has been drawn to the allegation made by one Mr. Lateef Yekini about the imposition of Alhaji Samsudeen Apelogun as the National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN),by the Ogun State Governor,Senator Ibikunle Amosun.The allegation also pointed that there is another legally recognized body for tricycle and motorcycle repairers in the country aside ACOMORAN. It will be worthwhile of us to put the facts straight through this medium.

It is on record that Apelogun became the Ogun State Chairman of the ACOMORAN in 2010,few months before Senator Amosun came on board as the Governor.His eight-year tenure as the State Chairman recorded numerous achievements such that called for a progressive journey to the national level. Alhaji Apelogun contested for the post of the National President and won the election in February 2019 without any interference from any quarters.

Of a truth, it is laughable for someone to wake up from his sleep to allege that a state Governor imposed an individual to rule over an independent organisation whose membership cuts across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

Also,the point that ACOMORAN is not recognised by the government is an outright affront to the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which did diligence to the formal registration of ACOMORAN by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Federal Ministry of Transportation after the directive that all operators of commercial motorcycle and tricycle should come under one umbrella for the purpose of effective coordination. But for the sake of not losing our membership strength Nationwide, the Federal Minister of Transportation noted that there are some states where they only permit the operation of tricycle. As the name ACTOMORAN is used for the State chapter where this situation applies but those peculiar states are still under the umbrella of ACOMORAN since we have over 12million members across the country.

 

It should be noted that NACOMORAN which Yekini parades himself to be championing its cause is allien and unknown to us. 

Besides, the allegations made by Lateef Yekini who truly was a former member of ACOMORAN, quickly reminds one of his track record especially as an ex-convict having being found guilty of an offence by the Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, in the Ogun State Capital. It will, therefore be a waste of time to trade words with him whom we have known over the years as an attention seeker.

How on Earth would someone be making a call that the National President of this Noble association who was inaugurated by the Federal Minister of Transportation, H.E Rotimi Amaechi, with the Senate Committee Chairman on land transport, Senator Gbenga Ashafa and other dignitaries in attendance, should not be given due recognition?

Above all, the decision of the Federal Government to partner with our great association the moment the solar-powered tricycle is launched is another reason Yekini needs to be making false allegations, accusations and foul cry because he is aware that good days are here for ACOMORAN and he cannot contain it. As such, an enemy of progress will try all means to discredit the progressive minded and deter the good days from coming to reality.

However, the National President during his inauguration disclosed his "4 point Agenda"  and "Core Values", includes

◾Enhanced Members Welfare

◾Total rebranding

◾Infrastructural development and Partnership with government as well as

◾Accountability and Transparency the above mentioned can not be perfect without mentioning adding, an All inclusive government; Open door approach; and Prompt response to all matters concerning the association. It cannot be over-emphasised that these lofts visions would in no small measure better the lots of the association and its members. thereby, Alhaji Apelogun will not allow any distraction(s) from any quarters because the tasks at hand demand that he remain focused.
